I'd be lying if I said this purchase wasn't partly inspired by @tldr saying Shakespeare is the greatest philosopher repeatedly. And Verdi was the one who best knew to bring his plays out in opera, despite speaking no English. Excited to go down this rabbit hole.

Hey Tim, I finished this one just a few days ago and I must say, the serious side effect is that it led to spending $250 on Opera tickets for the next few months. Super enjoyed it, it draws a lot of parallels between the two, also introduces context such as diabolism - which often is lost on modern audience.

well I am going to see Don Carlo next week sunday here in the Semperoper in Dresden. And planning to go see Othello in Frankfurt end of June. Let's see if I also find a Macbeth somewhere...
