Does anyone have any suggestions for best practices when a DAO core team decides to sunset the project? How to involve tokenholders and investors, and involve both in the process?

Transparency is key! I would hold open forums for community and investors to join and discuss. Schedule 1:1s with engaged individuals so they can share private insights. Collect feedback and process it internally to present summaries and iterate on this until you reach consensus.
