Following up on the cast between growth hacking and fraud Many crypto projects "growth hacked" their user base, Discord servers, and TG. They could argue it is just marketing, but without disclosure it is 100% fraud.

Anyone remembers the Vice reporter who faked it into becoming London’s #1 restaurant all through showing how easy it is to fake social proof? Brilliant. Sadly fake growth works to get the ball rolling. Super deceptive but would never happen if humans didn’t value follower quantity vs quality in the first place.

Not saying its right, but it's pervasive across the industry. It's incumbent on the investor / acquirer to sus-out the reality. Perfect world that wouldn't be necessary, but in diligence I expect the onus is on me, and I assume that if there's a way to game the numbers, someone I'm speaking to is trying to do it.

yes. also segmentation was very limited. 50,000 discord is useless to useful company/protocol growth if everyone is just waiting for airdrops.
