I think this is a very well-reasoned take by @chaskin.eth on the “does Ethereum needs to do more marketing?” debate. the lingering question for me is how the EF will negotiate this transition to a more friendly regulatory environment which might allow for more deliberate marketing efforts. my impression of EF staffing is that it is 99% engineers and researchers, many of whom don’t have a great deal of respect for marketers or marketing in general. how will the EF work with third parties and/or internal hires to actually do this work? lastly, a couple points of clarification re: Solana memecoins: - Memecoins on Solana didn’t start with WIF, they started with BONK which was a free airdrop to Solana community members and projects post-FTX in late 2022. 50% of the total supply was airdropped. - BONK went sideways for ~ 1yr following the airdrop and then started moving in Nov/Dec 2023, around the same time WIF was launched. WIF didn’t make the bulk of its parabolic move until late February/March.
