Man, fiber internet is cool. Just uploaded a 500mb video to YouTube in less than 10 seconds. I first got on the internet in the late 90s when I was in junior high. I could never have imagined this.

Our municipal utility laid all the fiber except for the last mile, and then partnered with a company to do the residential hookups, billing, and customer service. I don't know the specific terminology beyond "fiber" and that it's 1 gbps. Unfortunately, the wifi mesh I'm using only gives me half that speed, even wired, but this Asus ZenWifi is working a LOT better than the Google Wifi mesh I was using before, and it's not like I'm suffering at 500 mbps.

Thatโs incredible! I have Fios fiber but also feel like Iโm getting throttled by the router. 500 is wild

I would get over 900 wired out of the Google mesh, but it dropped wifi connections too frequently. My security cameras, Switch, etc. would constantly disconnect even when they were just feet away from a mesh point. The Asus Zenwifi has been rock solid, but it doesn't seem to stretch as far as Google. Less of my yard is covered, but the connection is way more stable.

ahh I have been looking for a good mesh to get better coverage as well but everything I read says donโt waste your money unless youโre deploying commercial grade and too expensive for me tbh
