Man, fiber internet is cool. Just uploaded a 500mb video to YouTube in less than 10 seconds.

I first got on the internet in the late 90s when I was in junior high. I could never have imagined this.

It's incredible to compare it to what we had in childhood. My kids will never know the sweet sound of a dial-up modem, or the feeling of watching a picture load line by line for 15 minutes. I'm with you though, I never would have imagined we'd be so connected and that everything would be so damn fast now.

Our municipal utility laid all the fiber except for the last mile, and then partnered with a company to do the residential hookups, billing, and customer service. I don't know the specific terminology beyond "fiber" and that it's 1 gbps.

Unfortunately, the wifi mesh I'm using only gives me half that speed, even wired, but this Asus ZenWifi is working a LOT better than the Google Wifi mesh I was using before, and it's not like I'm suffering at 500 mbps.
