What influence (if any) does lower user transaction fees have on “consumer user” activity on OP Chains? Likely could start by comparing time periods with low L1 gas prices versus high L1 gas prices, post-Bedrock (modern fee model). Consumer = humans pressing buttons on a website, not bots

Follow-up: have we yet observed any “avg cost” where user activity notably changes? I.e. Below $0.X, consumer activity ramps up

Alright, some quick analysis of Base shows that active wallets start to drop steeply at around maximum 40 gwei (L1 gas price) when transacting on Base. We can also see that median transaction frequency for a given wallet is highest around 10-15 gwei. https://dune.com/queries/3459267/5813802

I wonder if a valid rephrasing of this is “what is the confidence interval of gas price that a user is willing to pay within”. So can we look at users over the last year who have transacted at least once a week and see if they have differing “gas ranges”? And from there, identify the 50th percentile gas max?

I don't think this is the right framing. Lower tx costs means it's even easier to write contracts, test in prod, and create new types of bundled transaction protocols. It is these new automations that will bring humans clicking the button I think. 4844 has inspired my own DEX research interest which I'll productize

I analyzed the top 10 contracts on Base & their activity against Ethereum L1 gas prices over the past 30 days. I observed that higher txs on Base generally coincide with lower L1 gas prices, although this trend can be affected by protocol narratives & popularity. cc: @ilemi Link : https://dune.com/queries/3462222
