Imagine for a moment.... this hypothetical situation The owner of /politics is a raging Trump bootlicker to the extreme. (I know he isnt) He decides to only let MAGA cheerleaders to post and become members. Does anyone on here want that ?

I think in this situation, ideally someone would just create a new channel for politics.

A great example, because it works for every group/channel. It's been a huge issue at reddit, where groups of mods changed narratives and silenced unwanted voices. And I am not talking about voices that were promoting violence or discriminating. Just different viewpoints on investments.

That sounds like a really bad idea. Manual curation of something like /politics is not the way to go.

Picture /politics controlled by an extreme partisan, allowing only MAGA voices. Do you want Farcaster to become an echo chamber?

fair point but do you think growing /politics is what scales the network? the channel is full of various political takes and DAUs are down anyways …

This is why some Reddit channels are awful, simply because the moderation is entirely one sided. Of course you'll likely get make another channel response as a comeback. Echo chambers are echo chambers because they are designed that way.

If access to the channel is restricted, it would likely be based on personal biases. This could end up hurting innovation and the diversity of content.
