I think I am going to stop self-hosting my own crypto nodes. The experience is truly terrible and it keeps getting worse.

I stopped my Base node and tried to switch my beacon node out. I bring it back up and the database is corrupted for no reason.

The reason is:

My beacon chain was synced and up to date. But now I look at it and it's over 3,000 days out of date. Why did this happen? Who knows. This software is all garbage.

I really want all this stuff to be decentralized and it never really will be as long as it's so difficult to run the servers. But, that's a different problem than creating interesting things on top of blockchain and I need to focus, yes.

For what it’s worth - everyone I’ve talked to that had the wits to run their own node has said it’s “shaving the yak”
