I asked wifey install Rainbow wallet on mobile.

She could not get past this useless pop up on seed phrase import.

After I helped her there, WalletConnect did not work.

Hi, so that promo page wouldn't go away when tapping 'Maybe later' ?
Were there multiple promo pages that were annoying?

We have seen more issues with WalletConnect on Android recently.

We do recommend using the in app Rainbow mobile browser as a first step to connect in that case.

Other things that can interfere with WC connections - 
VPNs, internet/DNS filters, switching between wifi -> cell internet can help with that

Firefox and Brave browser can also interfere with WC deeplinks.
Chrome should work great as long as you hit allow on the pop-up that asks if links are allowed to direct you outside to another app!
