A left-wing journalist I know on Bluesky was saying that the push around Greenland is clearly related to the VC-backed Network State idea.

Obviously there’s a big crypto connection. What do you guys think of the project? Anyone involved? What does this clearly very skeptical site miss?

The world of crypto guys who want to create sovereign states is a wild thing. What’s the warp/farcast view on those freaks? Are some of them here?

"Those freaks" is a little ad hominem and a recipe to disaster in conversation.

There is clearly a path and story to it. Critics should probably frame thinking in terms of small countries rather than the US. My ex family is from Barbados where we spent a ton of time and that country is a perfect example of a nation can no longer demographically sustain itself. Many countries are running on fumes at this point trying to operate like the United States with laughably short term economies and no real stability.

I'm actually watching Congress and the stablecoin bill carefully because when the U.S. generates a way for private individuals to opt into dollars, I believe every non-G8 country will have no way to finance themselves.

We might not get full digital nation states in our lifetime, but if many if these countries fall apart due to not being able to provide nation state services, the private sector will *hopefully* step in. The other options are worst imho.
