Btw I would like you to know I was nerdsniped by this problem by trying to use Lagrangian mechanics instead of the usual normal and centripedal forces, and I wanted to start it by assuming the skier was stuck on the sphere first. Turns out it's one of those awful pendulum problems.

I'm probably going to read around and figure out how to do it in purely Lagrangian mechanics, and forcing some diff eqs in Mathematica just for fun. I'm obviously missing some energy somewhere related to the skier since they have some energy that keeps them on the sphere.
