Agreed. I think they should pivot and make it the visual equivalent of the AirPods Pro. Just like you can put on your AirPods anywhere for a peak audio experience you should be able to put on the Vision anywhere to get a peak visual experience for you iPhone, Mac, etc. Defer compute to the devices we already have.

This would also allow them to make an excellent product with compelling use cases for the majority of their customers at a fair price point right now

Even if they were to have the Vision Pro be only a screen and not a computer they would still need the R1 chip to get the ultra low latency pass through and the insane screens which are the majority of the build cost. So the cost would likely not go down by much.

Cost won't go down immediately, but will go down in the coming years. But, as a pitch to users, this is compelling. Vision Pro is an accessory that can 10x your visual output. That's it. Everything else is a bonus.
