9 days. IMHO priority is an improvement, at least in my situation. I suspect I won't be opening the WC app as often, but my relationship with it will be healthier. Serendipity may suffer... there are some funny newbs. I wouldn't want to start WC with PM. I'd prefer to see the noise before filtering it. ty @dwr.eth @v

I think you may be missing my point. It doesn’t matter if there’s not a law against it.

Yeah. I thought we are just arguing US vs EU schools of thought. It would be a travesty if it happened in the US and wasn’t overturned.

It’s not smugness. It’s by design, to check government power.

That’s so weird to me. I’m just relating the basics of US democracy. The US Constitution and the Bill of Rights were drafted as such.

The government cannot deem things illegal. There needs to be legislation passed that makes it so.

Why is it illegal for him to LP? By design it’s difficult to know who is using TC. That’s the goal: financial privacy. Is it illegal to enable financial privacy?

No. I am not aware of a law preventing it. I did it. Laundering money is illegal, but running a car wash (which may be used to launder money) is not.

It’s the basis of US democracy and government. Not extreme at all. There needs to be a law, presumption of innocence, and due process, including a jury of peers. The government must prove its case in the framework of existing law. The government does not have the extrajudicial authority to represent the collective.

It goes beyond free speech in the US. You aren’t guilty of doing things the government doesn’t like. There must be a crime.

Democracy exists because power resides in the people. The government is but an instrument of the people’s design. The burden is on the government to justify limiting a citizen’s actions, not upon the citizen to justify their freedom to act. Fuck the politicians who would say such a thing. They are public servants.

Was he responsible to figure out who was using it, and what for? Just because a government doesn’t like the consequences of your actions doesn’t mean your actions were illegal.
