for anyone curious this is the reason we can't have a chronological feed (even though 90%+ of users want one) Warpcast team doesn't see that the quality of the algo feed is downstream of having the basics right (chronological feed ensures good visibility for new posts early on, boosting quality of discussion) so instead they try to tweak an algo that isn't being fed good enough content in the first place

he says it's a product philosophy thing, as in if they add it, they are taking their eye off the ball of crafting the perfect algo crafting the perfect algo is super easy tho, surely it will be done any day now

usually when I think hard enough about something Dan is being stubborn about I realize he’s probably right, but this one I really can’t figure out, especially with all the real time politics stuff happening

I don't get it either when they originally took away the chronological feed in February I reached out to him directly saying how badly it had degraded feed quality, he agreed, and told me it was a temporary option and things would be back to normal within weeks then I guess someone got in his ear? somewhere along the line it's become a very stubborn stance

it's such a basic option it feels weird to have to go to a whole other client and part of my complaint is that, as long as the flagship app doesn't have it, overall content quality is never going to improve so it doesn't fix the network's broader conversation problem if you want it to feel lively and fresh on here people need realtime options in the default client
