Reddit is one of those forums I’m impressed by and am glad exists but have never been even slightly attracted to as a place to hang out. I wonder why 🤔

I think any platform that has a high culture barrier is harder to get into because you have to grok the culture or participate in the culture, and that's a big barrier to entry.
