Hi Casters. I love it when two food cultures come together and make something awesome. Apparently the Lebanese immigrants to Mexico brought shawarma with them and that resulted in the al pastor taco. Korean shortribs (as we know them with the thin cross cut slices) have a similar story When Korean immigrants showed up in LA and wanted to make food from the motherland, that cut (used in a bunch of Latino cuisine) was the only shortrib cut they could find They made do, discovered it's actually great, and it became so popular that Korea Koreans adopted it too
