What coping mechanisms were you taught as a child to help navigate your emotions? Iโ€™ve been reflecting on this a lot in my own mental wellness journey. For me, it was to go buss someoneโ€™s ass on the basketball court ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ Which is no help as adult ๐Ÿ˜…

Fight harder for peopleโ€™s love and attention when I feel rejected. Has been working out terribly but itโ€™s something I must โ€œunlearnโ€ which is impossible because I never forgot how to drive. So I have to learn how to drive stick.

Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ On my journey, Iโ€™ve really leaned into the power of words! Shifting my language to affirmatives has helped a lot I didnโ€™t realize how much negative self talk I was constantly doing ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜•

Yeahhhh I read that the term โ€œunlearningโ€ is a bit of a misnomer, because we really canโ€™t unlearn how to drive a car or ride a bike. So we have to force ourselves and reward ourselves for changing our behavior and things like you said talking nice to ourselves.
