The pre click funnel can be just as important. Do they know how the product works and how they life is going to be changed after the use it, before they are asked to sign up? Also direct incentive is the real answer, whether that is simple monetary value or status or something involved with the product.

This starts before you even make a hire. We have something where any engineer that builds something writes in depth docs, just for internal purposes. This provides a great way for new hires to catch up on what's been built and how it's being built
