Ufff that is a tough question. Very high up definitely Carlos Ruiz zafom shadow of the wind. I read it three times already probably. Also Momo by Michael Ende. The Offing Benjamin Myers come to mind.

The Offing is also super beautiful writing. And the entire Barcelona series by Carlos Ruiz zafon as well as his books for youth are worth reading.
