At a certain point you gotta wonder when the focus will shift to getting people to use the apps over the protocols they’re built on.

Crypto has still yet to have its Facebook or Instagram moment.

Its a really interesting point. Its possible that despite a huge amount of energy and capital devoted towards a subject it just never happens even if it seems to make sense on paper. That said I think it will always exist as a marginal phenomenon even if it never actually becomes mainstream.

I'll add that even mentioning crypto having a FB or Instagram moment wasn't even possible until this year. Progress keeps coming.

It'll remain marginal until creators can actually make a living, then it will skyrocket. One question I have is how creators might use a decentralized protocol but steer their followers to it through traditional web2 apps. Difficulty is that X/FB/Insta all have hardcore algos/guardrails to prevent that from happening. Link in bio might not drive enough traffic to get to critical mass.
