A nice thing about having a smaller social media platform is that’s basically impossible to form ideological bubbles or secluded tribes. There aren’t enough people to do that, so you need to interact with whoever is there and make it work. That can force you out of your comfort zone a bit and open you to the possibility of growth by being around those different than you. I’d compare it to living in a village versus living in a big city. In a village there are a bunch of people who live in close proximity and didn’t choose each other, but they all have to play a role and make it work because that’s who they have. In a big city people hive off into groups based on ascribed interests and identity. That can be great, but as we all know something is lost in the process. X is like a bustling metropolis and Farcaster is like a small town; albeit one that is building more housing and infrastructure and starting to attract more immigrants looking for opportunity or just a change in scenery.

would add that it’s a lot harder to beef relentlessly when you actually know the ppl IRL. a lot of the power badge crowd have actually met each other IRL!

Just wait until all of the communities are token gated and your opinion may change.

yeah, makes sense, living in a small village made me interact with everyone out there and yeah, I can agree on creating a tribe is very hard.. because there is not enough members.. but we have like bigger tribes where we recognize each other in people from other hood or area.. creating some external connections too.. there is some complexity that could be studied on these patterns.. and some stories on great films and books happens on these cities too 👀

I hope we don't forget that sense of cohesion when we grow into a big town.

Farcaster isn't just a place to tip and receive tips, it's a place someone might consider home. because they discover new things that have never been discovered before, like me
