Thanks for having me. I actually never decided to become a journalist; I came from a very working class background and that was seen as more of an “elite” field. I studied economics and finance in school and started a career in that direction. Despite that I never really enjoyed that world even thought it made a living. I always kept writing on the side, and doing reporting in my spare time as a hobby. Around 2011 I went to Egypt and Tunisia to observe the Arab Spring and started pitching stories about what I’d been seeing to various outlets. From there it started snowballing and by 2013 I had a huge network and began working on big stories like the Edward Snowden NSA documents. Since then I’ve worked as a journalist exclusively and built a new career doing that (though I still keep an eye on the financial world and that mixed with my experiences a journalist piqued my interest in crypto for example)

Why do Studying economics and finance often leads to change of directions "major" by time most of the time to positive outcome. It's wonderful to have you here. Lebanon has produced many great journalists among time , but sadly, most of the current ones are merely NGOs motivated by money to advance specific political agendas. @0xsamir has more experience with Lebanese journalists than I do. Hopefully, together, we will be able to attract the good ones here.🌹
