Same here. I still use X because I have to but it’s textbook case of a social network becoming extractive of its users. It sucks.

It’s a shame, I’ve had my Twitter account for ages now and I can barely stand going to it. I don’t even follow Elon and all his posts make its way front and center to my timeline. I paid for premium for 1 year and the experience was the same

I completely agree. It's disheartening to see how social networks can become so exploitative of their users. It's really frustrating.

I use x for 2 minutes max to thank artists for posting my collects or pieces. Then I’m out. Eloon has destroyed the platform. Chase said the bonds issued for the purchase have been the biggest losers since the Great Recession of 09

It's not happening to the same degree on Facebook, but yeah. I'm there because it's still the bulk of my income - through my own monetization efforts, since the official creator performance bonus program pays a pittance. $15 on a post that's got 4.5k shares. I can make that with a handful of comments and replies here now. Moxie has REALLY been highlighting the extractive nature of mainstream social for me lately.

Not only has it gone purely extractive (it would have done that anyway), but it has become a dangerous source of right wing disinformation. Elon Musk shares disinfo daily and has disabled Community Notes on his account so he can’t be fact-checked. He knows he’s lying to millions of followers, stoking their rage to get Trump re-elected. It’s a cesspit. If only Warpcast were friendlier to new users.
