I'm so much enjoying 'The User Illusion: Cutting Consciousness Down to Size.' by Tor Nørretranders, a classic on consciousness. "The brain creates a picture of reality that we mistake for the actual thing."

“Ways of Being: Beyond Human Intelligence” by James Bridle is also quite interesting, more about (artificial) intelligence but not so mind blowing as the User Illusion
