Hi, I'm @Maurice, an interaction designer and carpenter from Germany. I first discovered Farcaster through the "Moment of Zen" podcast and joined the platform in January this year. A notable highlight in my design career was my time at an R&D lab for a major German automotive company in Silicon Valley. There, I developed interaction design concepts for future mobility solutions. Much of that work is confidential, but it was a valuable experience. (1/2)

I took a break from design over the past few years to focus on other projects, including my/our family business. Frankly, I was a bit disillusioned with the design world. Now, I’m gradually returning to design, treating it more as a side project and an intellectual pursuit, delving into design history and philosophy. Currently, I'm developing my personal website to share my thoughts, design philosophy, interesting artifacts, and projects. I'm also researching a minimalist wallet concept, focused on every day purchases. (Still not sure if it’s necessary)

What's captivating my thoughts recently is not a specific design project, but rather the broader impact of design on our environment, society, and daily lives. My education was heavily influenced by the Modernist and Bauhaus traditions, which strongly emphasize the “form follows function” principle. However, observing the effects of this design philosophy, particularly in architecture and product design, has led me to reconsider the importance of beauty (Beauty for itself) in our surroundings.

In my case, too, I needed to take a break from it to realise what I was missing!
