I use a dappnode, but regret it. Chose it so I didn’t have to deal with devops/networking stuff, which has worked out But it’s limiting (need a dappnode package to run things, so no reth/etc. for me), it goes down more than I expected, and (unsurprisingly) I’ve learned nothing about actually running a node

Interesting, thanks! I've heard similar things before. I assume you could just wipe it an install ubuntu or something if you wanted to right?

whats the best "set up a node" experience today? pulling a docker image and running it on EC2 ?

Also wondering this. Feels like there should be a comprehensive guide showing how to run nodes/validators locally and on cloud providers, along with associated costs/tradeoffs etc. (maybe there is one, haven’t looked much) I will say the dappnode was pretty easy to setup though
