I was surprised to see how many people were just out of commission on the streets of shibuya last night Drinking/nightlife culture here seems the one thing that is a sort of inconsistency with everything else about the city which is otherwise extremely clean, neat, healthy, put together

agreed, also found this jarring. I think one potential explanation is that it’s downstream of the fairly rigid “salaryman” work culture, like a release valve
