same reason I believe video games are often so satisfying: we get to complete well-defined tasks with rewards, often in the same day or session, vs. toiling away for weeks or months irl with little to no reward.

it’s true. when i couldn’t do yardwork or gardening or pretty much anything one of my favourite things was farming in stardew valley

daily quests in games are soooo satisfying, I could do that shit for hours and not bat an eyelash but somehow irl tasks are so much more daunting
