Surprised there haven't been more attempts to create a breakout new podcast app. Breaker was the most interesting one and that was almost a decade ago. 

They are as relevant as ever and somehow still underrated. I would bet a significant share of YouTube is actually podcasts (importantly, available for free via RSS).

that checks out. Maybe i’m just a boomer here but I find the experience in both apps awful

ehhh not for podcasts. hard to stay on top of regular listens, can’t skip ads easily (apple podcasts skip button is 30s, youtube is next vid), and player is harder to navigate for pods

podcasts are still a massively underrated medium, and the podcast app ecosystem has seen surprisingly little innovation since the early day
