China alone exports about 3 million metric tons annually. Any new domestic find is a gift but their alkali metal and rare earth trade imbalance is absurd compared to the rest of the world.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, at 40 million metric tons this is the largest reserve of lithium in the world (prev would have been Chile at 9.3m)

Yeah, but the 0.1% planned recovery annually from the 40 million metric tons found means it would take 1,000 years to fully unearth. Similar to shale fracking limits. And we donβt have the domestic industry (labor) to convert it to commercial batteries.
