Meetup is mostly an advertising channel for MLMs and other associated enterprises that are trying to recruit under the guise of "meeting up." There are some quality groups, but why wouldn't you run an email list with Eventbrite? Also if it's about the information, why not use Zoom? In-person can be overrated.

As in your hosting a meetup to go over a slide deck or give some presentation, that's more of an "informatory" meetup rather than playing pickleball. The vast majority of meetups on meetup.com I think are the former.

hard to tell the breakdown but i think the point of a meetup is to do things and make friends, not to give presentations
