Roblox and Fortnite both have really powerful UGC tools, this is the path I'd go as well. That being said, I don't think you can use them to publish games outside of their respective universes

Wow, this tutorial incredibly easy to follow. Phaser seems to have a really intuitive developer experience: https://phaser.io/tutorials/making-your-first-phaser-3-game/part1

From my initial research it seems like the most popular/mature are Babylon.js for 3D games, and phaser for 2D games

Interestingly all of the top feature requests in Godot are related to typing, which immediately makes you think that a Rust-based game engine like Bevy would be preferred. But then you read articles from devs who use Bevy that are giving it up because the typing is too strong. Feels really hard to get this balance right. https://deadmoney.gg/news/articles/migrating-away-from-rust

Jay you don't want this smoke. I can take you down faster than your $DEGEN bags did. And I don't need compliance approval. 🫳 šŸŽ¤

We believe the path forward is through Open Source Capitalism - where everyday market forces, not uncertain subsidies, drive invention. A world where builders can earn a fair share and move fluidly between projects, coordinating at an unprecedented scale. How do we get there? Merit automates ownership in open source, adding attribution so funds flow directly to builders. By programmatically tying capital to impact, it spurs innovation, fosters a dynamic market, and seeks to attract top talent looking for maximum agency and impact. The future belongs to those who build it. To learn more, see the @merit_systems fundraise announcement below: https://www.merit.systems/fundraise Lastly - if this vision excites you, we are hiring talented engineers. Check out our career page! https://www.merit.systems/careers

Excited to announce that we at @meritsystems have raised $10m from our friends at a16z crypto and Blockchain Capital (with participation from @dwr.eth) to accelerate what we are calling Open Source Capitalism. Open source software is eating the world. It empowers every major company - and supports trillions of dollars of value every year. It’s a lever on the world - the way to make more with less. What if we could give it superpowers? We are a team of open source veterans with a fresh perspective on capital formation. @samrags and I worked together at a16z as hybrid engineers/investors, and @rfs comes from Blockchain Capital and AWS before that.

PERSONAL UPDATE: After an amazing 3.5 years, I’m leaving a16z to work on something new (more on that below). It’s been an incredible experience getting to work with our portcos alongside some of the smartest people I know. To the entire a16z team, especially @cdixon and Ali and the rest of the deal team: thank you for showing me what having a truly world-class culture means. You make a16z special. To all the founders I’ve met and worked with: it’s been an honor to be a part of your journey. I’ve learned so much from you and am excited for the things to come. So what’s next? I’m joining the indomitable @samrags and @rfs to build Merit Systems. We are building tools, markets, and mechanisms to create an entirely new economy for software creation and contribution. Stay tuned for more information and announcements in the coming weeks. It’s time to build.

Open source frontend + the graph might be the most practical way to solve this without sacrificing purity. If the frontend starts to misbehave or is headed in a direction people do not like, anyone can fork and run it themselves / for others. But putting a WASM ponder instance in the browser sounds like a nerdsnipe for sure cc @typedarray.eth

But wouldn't users be recreating that indexing work themselves everytime (and thus paying RPC credits), instead of it only having to be done once, if the app dev has a ponder backend, for example?
