Why do you think political betting took off onchain before sports betting?

What problems would being onchain solve for sports betting?

It probably won’t help the reputation of crypto, but sports betting feels like the next obvious onchain use case.

Political betting I think was less regulated previously (not a big enough market), so I think easier for teams to take a shot at it whereas most crypto sports betting I think would be sort of illegal from day 1

Long-term though I'm super bullish on a fully onchain, decentralized sports betting ecosystems where the market sets lines rather than sports books

The only downside is that events take much longer to mature compared to other betting events
