Did you know NYC doesn’t support Citibike with *any* public funds? That’s why Lyft keeps raising prices, and a 30 minute e-bike ride costs over $15 (or $7.20 if you are a Lyft Pink member for $200/yr) What if we treated our bikeshare program like public transit? How many more rides would people take if it cost no more than a $2.90 subway ride? https://nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/09/16/restler-bill-to-cap-e-bike-fees-sets-the-bar-high-for-citi-bikes-future

That’s wild In London you can ride 30 mins for $7 There are two private competitors (Uber/Lime and Forest) and the worse public provided bikes (Santander bank, idk the price) I don’t think the private companies get any subsidies from the city; is there any real competition in NYC?

I have a buddy who worked for years to get Oonee stations around NYC. If this picks up and becomes more convenient, more people should start keeping their own bikes and turn away from Citi's. https://www.oonee.us/
