I've had this post title ("Building for Farcaster: the people vs. the protocol") in my head for months now just a /firstdraft for now, but will get it published soon keen to get feedback!

The devs are super important - after all its a protocol and if we stop at warpcast what was the point, but maybe less twitter clones more diverse applications But agreed it takes a village and at the end of the day the code is only half the battle (if not less - actually definitely less) People and connections are the MVP and we share a similar sentiment :)

I like the idea....you are also talking to me so I like it! Other examples are Naomi (afrochicks) and Murtaza. A phrase came to mind "Don't build on Farcaster, build for Farcasters." 🫡 I'm also interested in what you mean by "it's what I hoping to do with FDC" ...I should probably just join.

Agree completely! I’d love for you to check out the art-driven game project we’re working on, called Farconic. It aligns with building for the people, not just the protocol. In Farconic, players collect iconic buildings from 61 cities around the world, with 435 buildings to discover. The aim is to complete sets and claim cities, either solo or by collaborating with others. We’re really focused on blending art, strategy, and social interaction - letting players unlock new ways to engage by forming communities and shaping their cities’ future together. It’s about fostering collaboration and creativity, similar to the vibe you mention for Farcaster.

I don't like "don't do this, do that". If you want to build the 100th Farcaster client because it's cool to do it in Fortran, go ahead, your time, your choice. I prefer "if you're looking for an opportunity, look there". Or "you don't have to be technical to build on Farcaster, you can also do this and that".
