So true. I lived through the form vs function vs postmodernism battles, so there's always been a tension there. And to be fair, I can understand someone thinking architecture is too serious a field to bother with ornamentation and the unbuildable. At the same time, how do we find new forms if not through experimentation?

When I moved to NYC in 2008 I got a lot of love for how Generator.x covered architecture from the start. The scene back then was small but vibrant, it's nice to see Marc Fornes and Softlab doing well and getting commissions. But the identity crisis still runs deep. 🫂

I'm well aware of your plight, been following gen arch since the mid-2000's and it never had a natural home. Architecture isn't very forgiving towards pure form research, parametricism aside. Seeing you, Jacek and people like Aranda/Lasch find a space in the NFT scene made a ton of sense. I'm not interested in whether the work is "really" art or architecture, I think that's entirely up to the maker. But I've been around enough to plenty of architects hating. 😅
