The publication also highlights fundamental moments in Brazilian democracy, such as Clarice Lispector's text about the capital and Ailton Krenak's moving speech at the 1988 Constituent Assembly. The book also pays tribute to notable personalities such as Niemeyer, Lucio Costa, Athos Bulcão, Darcy Ribeiro, Roberto Burle Marx and Anísio Teixeira and features photographs by Leonardo Finotti, José Roberto Bassul, Marcio Borsoi, and others, to compose a rich visual and conceptual panorama of the city.

I had the fortune to visit São Paulo in 2006 for the Art.Ficial Emotions show at ITAU Cultural (along with @paul-prudence and a handful of other digital artists). It left me with an appreciation for Brazil as a complex country with many parallel histories that both converge and diverge. Niemeyer is widely known, but there's so much more. As a Norwegian, the vistas of Säo Paulo were pure science fiction. I shot this from the top of the ITAU Cultural center.

That was a trip to remember in many ways! I loved staying in the hotel on the Xth floor overlooking the giant crystalline skyline of the city. Here are some photos of the trip and the show. There is a younger Marius in one of the photos :) https://www.flickr.com/photos/transphormetic/albums/72157594211958797/
