Never a bad day to revisit the USGS geological maps of the Moon. D.E. Wilhelms, Farouk El-Baz - Geologic map of the east side of the Moon, 1977 https://www.usgs.gov/maps/geologic-map-east-side-moon

WOW, thank you for sharing this!! You probably know about the Mississippi River meander maps from the 1940s? https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/maps-of-the-lower-mississippi-harold-fisk/

I certainly do. Same kind of unearthly beauty, even if it's a side effect of a scientific method of mapping and coloring. Robert Hodgin did an Artblocks piece based on the meander maps, bringing his technical genius for replicating organic systems. "Ancient Courses of Fictional Rivers", it was called. https://www.artblocks.io/collection/0xa7d8d9ef8d8ce8992df33d8b8cf4aebabd5bd270-284

That's exactly how I learned about it! Or, actually, it may have been @nudoru's early projects on @fxhash which led me to Hodgins' work and then these maps.
