April Greiman, poster for UCLA Summer Sessions, 1991. Offset lithography Not my favorite part of 90's graphic design, but make no mistake, this was radical in '91. Somewhere between analog and digital, at a time when digital was far from easy.

Immediately brings me back to that moment in time. Emigre (Rudy VanderLans and Zuzana Licko) was a favorite. Letterform Archive recently put up a ton of the Emigre archive in high res. https://oa.letterformarchive.org/?dims=Firms,Format&vals0=Emigre&vals1=Magazine&_gl=1*1lix8m5*_gcl_au*MTE0NzIwNjQyOC4xNzI2NDQyMjA5*_ga*Mzk2ODU0MjU1LjE3MjY0NDIyMDk.*_ga_9VNCG4J7XV*MTcyNjQ0MjIwOC4xLjAuMTcyNjQ0MjIwOC42MC4wLjE1NDU4MzY3OTA.

Indeed, it does. I got introduced to Emigre around that time. Happy to say I have several old issues, still, including the glorious Designer’s Republic issue. Visited Scott Makela at Cranbrook in 1998, hit up CalArts on the same visit. Vivid memories!

Jealous! I stupidly parted with all my old issues and posters in one of my many cross-country moves.
