Sometimes, the biggest setbacks can lead to the most important changes in our lives. A moment that feels like failure can be the push we need to grow, shift direction, or realize what matters. For me, it was getting arrested, losing my career and sense of self. At the time, it felt like I had lost everything, and there was no coming back. I was doomed to a life of mediocrity. But in reality, that experience forced me to make some big changes in my life. I got clean, I rebuilt my confidence and today, I’m in a better place than I’ve ever been. That low point was the catalyst I needed to really change. What about you? What’s a failure or setback that turned out to be a blessing in disguise?

Exactly, diamonds are obtained in the most difficult conditions. I myself once worked in a company and received an average salary and I was not satisfied. There was one way to get out of there and one way was to be satisfied with the same low salary. I decided and left and now I am very satisfied with my condition

Thank you for sharing such a vulnerable and powerful story. It’s inspiring to hear how you turned such a difficult moment into an opportunity to rebuild and grow. For me, one of the most defining setbacks was losing a job I was passionate about. It wasn’t just about losing the position it felt like I was losing my identity and the future I had envisioned. At first, I was devastated, angry, and unsure of how to move forward. But with time, I realized that losing that job gave me space to reassess what I really wanted. It forced me to acknowledge aspects of the work that weren’t serving me and to explore new directions I’d been too afraid to pursue. I ended up learning new skills, meeting people who inspired me, and eventually finding a path that feels more authentic and fulfilling than what I’d been clinging to. That experience taught me the importance of adaptability and how setbacks can often be redirections. They’re not easy, but they can push us to places we might never have reached otherwise.

You are spot on. I remembered when I was in year two, I got promoted to year three. I got home and my mother asked me a few questions and I couldn't answer,I wonder how I was able to skale thru. My mother wasn't satisfied of the result. The following session, I thot I was going to the next class, I was surprised that my mother came to school and requested I repeat year 2. At first it doesn't sit right seeing my mate in the next class and me in my former class. But,that singular act from my mum change the story of my life. I became a better version of myself. Failure is a way you can learn from your mistakes and use those lessons to improve yourself. Thanks for this @maretus

A few years ago, at the beginning of 2018, both @kateyarter and I both lost our jobs in the same month 🫣 both due to a company restructuring.. go figure. That was a hella tough year with more challenges than I could list, but we have four kids so you can imagine haha. BUT, during that tough year we got scrappy, resourceful, strong and pushed hard to create our first art studio and store front. To say "fuck it" to the normal way of doing things, and the system that wasn't helping us grow and find /success. The rest is history! We have always been artists, but the failure that presented itself pushed us further than we thought we could go. Blessing in disguise? In the middle of the challenge it can be hard to see, but on the other side, a HUGE push toward success!

Lost my entire savings in the last bear market. At that point I was gutted i believed crypto was a scam and had no use but the real blessing was being able to capitalize on being in the bear market and position myself for this upcoming cycle with a lot good projects I joined. I still have lost major cash in crypto since then but am up significantly since then.

There was a time that I didn't take some business opportunities seriously and the people around me who did got alot of success from it , that was turning point in my life to always stay grounded and never write off any opportunity. And I think that has helped me out alot of late and I'm doing quite better

When living in NYC I was working for a global interactive agency. At first it was great, I learned a lot and travelled the world, but after some time agency culture and management changed multiple times over, outsourcing started, and project timelines and demands became increasingly unrealistic to manage. Being stuck in antiquated corporate processes, there was no room for innovation despite the public "pep talk" of being innovative. I was miserable, yet I didn't see a way out. Being the main breadwinner while also a new mother I had zero time to make an exit plan. Mentally I was done with the corporate world and there was nothing I wanted to do more than refocus back on creativity and art. I was miserable for 5 years before I made a move. When the pandemic arrived I was finally released of my shackles. I took the opportunity and left NYC for Austin and am grateful everyday that we made it happen. Moral of the story: Do not wait too long to make a change, no matter how scary it is.

A major setback for me was ending a long-term relationship. It felt like losing everything, but it pushed me to focus on my personal growth and what I truly needed. In the end, it opened up new opportunities and helped me become stronger and more self-aware.

yes...it feels like you are 100% right, anybody should get rid of thinking about what went wrong in the past as well as what you have to do tomorrow...because all there is, is the moment, the only moment where you can put your energy into this or that 👍 😍
