This stress can lead to fatigue, structural failure. Another contributing factor is the material and design of the ship. If the materials used are not of high quality or if there are flaws in the design, the hull can be more susceptible to cracking and breaking under stress. Regular inspections are crucial to detect and repair potential weak points before catastrophic failure. This phenomenon was observed in cases like the MOL Comfort incident.
