To play devil's advocate, wouldn't the secret service (or whoever's responsibility this would be) be fully aware of this possibility and clear it before letting him fly? Maybe I'm giving the government too much credit

was thinking the same thing. Actually, there is no way that can happen. I am thinking they are just buying it but leaving out the details and letting people speculate. This seems to be a solid playbook for stirring up troll farms / attention cycles

Nothing like that has ever happened before… In an unrelated matter, Australia charitably built Timor-Leste’s Prime Minister’s SCIF. In another totally unrelated matter, Australia was negotiating a gas trade deal with Timor-Leste.
