They haven’t had an original idea in 50+ years. They don’t understand the way the modern world works, and thinks truly that that is what drive thing still not realizing this isn’t the 70’s anymore. Their whole ‘MAGA’ concept centers around this that truly they can’t conceptualize a modern world and want to go backwards rather than forwards.

There is a lot to it but it does appeal to a base that gets you elected, then you can once again broker deals that offshore it to appeal to a base that gets you elected. It is a narrative that is useful. The deals that got American companies to produce in China were very lucrative, like Hollywood you rinse and repeat what works
