🤔 What are your thoughts on ENS domains for new crypto users? Do you believe having an ENS domain is essential? Any concerns about ENS adoption for crypto newbies?

Not essential. At least not at first. Wouldn’t be the first step for a new user, if I were guiding them. But later if you’re collecting NFTs, particularly POAPs there’s less value in collecting what amounts to a verifiable online persona tied to a random string.

ENS has yet to relevantly penetrate the general consumer space. I’ve always thought, for many years, that someone would specifically pursue this over time hence why I personally haven’t bothered much to do so, but more and more I realise I’ll have to rally some folks and roll up our sleeves to get the job done.

Exactly, it’s opened up new opportunities, why not build true identity brands instead, that don’t have name collisions … they will be more valuable in the long term

It's like a department store paid membership card, nice to have, comes with perks, but not necessarily important, to me at least

I think ENS domain is cool, easier for us to remember ENS than address, its symbolic thing also. The only concern is maybe the fee and notification mechanism to user if the dns is gonna expired soon.

Yes, essential. ENS simplifies account ownership for sending tokens and currencies. and it gives you an onchain identity of your choosing.

not essential, but useful. good setup: public wallet with ens for representing your “identity” + private wallets for transactions/investments

No! And i dont recommend them for new users. The way i explain ENS to friends and family is its like labelling all your past and future "Anonymous" transactions with your actual name. Its nice to have but only once you learn a bit of key management
