Juilliard-Trained Pianist Convicted of Murder Zachary Hughes, a pianist trained at Juilliard, has been convicted of murdering 41-year-old veterinary technician Christina Parcell in South Carolina in 2021. Hughes admitted to the stabbing, claiming he believed Parcell’s daughter was being abused, despite never having met Parcell. He was sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors dismissed Hughes’ defense due to lack of evidence. In related cases, Parcell’s husband faced charges of possessing child abuse material, and another individual was arrested for conspiracy based on Hughes’ testimony.
