In January 2020, reports emerged that Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, allegedly hacked the phone of Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, by sending a malicious video file via WhatsApp. This message was sent in May 2018 and reportedly resulted in the extraction of a large amount of data from Bezos’s phone. Saudi officials have dismissed these allegations as “absurd.”
