so much of who we are is explained through our parents' stories.

just going through the timeline of their lives is a valuable exercise.

My father died unexpectedly last year and I wish more than anything that I’d been able to do an interview like that with him. He was pretty resistant to those kinds of conversations but I wish I’d insisted!
