What other words can we use aside from creator to refer to people that post on social media and newsletter/blog sites?

Content publisher?

I think everyone is a creator in their own right but the word creator comes with it's own baggage.

This is a hard one. Creator is such a broad term, and as you state, it comes with baggage. 

I like content creator. 

Maybe creator just needs a bit of additional descriptive(s) attached
