The woman pictured gave birth to the baby she’s holding. You might notice something off here — she did too The IVF clinic she went to implanted another couple’s embryo. After raising the child for 5 months she surrendered him to the biological parents There’s no way to tell how many mistakes like this and others occur with IVF because most end in arbitration. No one’s tracking anything And calls for industry regulation are meeting fierce pushback “The IVF industry has historically opposed additional regulation, saying that mistakes are no more common than in any other field of medicine.” There also is an unwillingness to confront an embryo’s personhood that plays a part. No one wants to link IVF and abortion One thing to me seems certain— as more people turn to IVF as its popularity grows for genetic family planning (vs fertility alone) — there will be more mistakes https://www.nbcnews.com/health/womens-health/ivf-errors-legal-protections-nightmare-mistakes-lawsuits-rcna194215

This blows my mind for so many reasons. I felt so connected and attached to my babies while pregnant so to birth them and feel like they're biologically mine but not biologically mine would be so confusing. I have a dream of adopting one day so it's also double confusing because one day those babies I didn't birth and truly aren't biologically mine will also be my babies..? The more I think about it the more I can't process it.

Yeah but idk…. you already have room for or conception of love that transcends biology just through your desire for adoption alone, which …. unto itself is very beautiful 🥹
